Skeeters Scuffle in Loss to Oklahoma City

(OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma) – The Sugar Land Skeeters surrendered six home runs in a 14-5 loss to the Oklahoma City Dodgers on Friday night.

Oklahoma City catcher Keibert Ruiz hit three of the home runs, with Matt Davidson, Zach Reks and Steven Souza Jr. also adding longballs.

The Skeeters scored their first run in the second on a sacrifice fly from Jose Siri. They scored two more runs in the sixth on a wild pitch, scoring Taylor Jones, and CJ Hinojosa’s RBI single. Hinojosa added another RBI in the eighth inning with his team-leading 22nd double.

Right-hander Pedro Baez resumed his Major League Rehab Assignment with the Skeeters. He tossed an inning in relief, allowing a run and striking out one, while throwing 19 pitches. The 19 pitches matched the most thus far amongst his three-game rehab stint, with the first two appearances coming with Low A Fayetteville.

Skeeters starter Austin Hansen allowed five runs on five hits through 3 2/3 innings and took the loss. Aaron Wilkerson got the start for Oklahoma City and picked up the win, allowing a run on four hits and striking out six batters in five innings.

Skeeters right-hander Peter Solomon will match up against Oklahoma City left-hander Vidal Nuno at 6:05 p.m. on Saturday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
