Skeeters Take Third Straight Over Round Rock

(ROUND ROCK, Texas) – The Sugar Land Skeeters won their third straight with a 9-3 victory Monday night over the Round Rock Express at Dell Diamond.

Jose Siri and Colton Shaver each powered solo home runs in the win. It was the third home run with the Skeeters for Shaver and the 10th on the year for Siri, which is second-most on the Skeeters behind Jake Meyers (14).

The Skeeters jumped out in front with two runs in the first inning, three in the fourth and two in the fifth. Meyers got the Skeeters on the board in the first with an RBI triple, his first triple of the season. CJ Hinojosa followed with an RBI single.

AJ Lee punctuated the three-run fourth with a two-run, two-out single. Ronnie Dawson added an RBI single in the fourth as well. Hinojosa struck again with an RBI double in the fifth inning. He leads the Skeeters with 15 doubles this season.

Shaver hit his solo shot in the sixth, with Siri adding his in the seventh inning. Siri became the first player in Triple A West to log at least 10 home runs and 10 stolen bases. He entered Monday tied for first in the league with 14 stolen bases.

Ryan Hartman, coming off his Major League debut last Wednesday, allowed just one run on one hit through four innings of relief, striking out four. It was Hartman’s first relief appearance of the season. Colin McKee received the win, throwing two scoreless innings behind starter Austin Hansen.

Hansen was activated from the 7-Day Injured List prior to Monday’s game and allowed two runs on a hit through an inning of work.

Round Rock tallied a pair in the first on a two-run homer from Leody Taveras. Jason Martin added a solo shot in the fourth inning. Left-hander James Jones was handed the loss, allowing three runs in 1/3 of an inning in relief of starter Wes Benjamin.

The Skeeters and Express are set to meet at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday for the series finale. Right-hander Peter Solomon will start for the Skeeters, opposed by right-hander Drew Anderson for Round Rock.
