Space Cowboys Lose as Jose Altuve Continues Rehab Assignment

(OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla.)Jose Altuve continued his Major League Rehab Assignment on Saturday night in a Sugar Land Space Cowboys 7-1 loss to the Oklahoma City Dodgers at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Altuve once again started at second base and hit second in the lineup and finished the night 1-for-3 with a double, walk and run scored. Altuve went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles on Friday as he began the assignment. The seven-time All-Star and former American League MVP has been on the 10-Day Injured List since April 19 with a left hamstring strain.

David Hensley drove in Altuve with an RBI single to put the Space Cowboys up 1-0 in the first inning. Hensley, who finished the night 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, pushed his Pacific Coast League-leading on-base streak to 21 games. He’s fourth in the PCL with a .422 on-base percentage.

JP France got the start for the Space Cowboys and struck out five batters through four innings of work. He’s tied for fourth in the PCL with 25 strikeouts on the season.

Stefen Romero and Jake Lamb combined to drive in five runs for Oklahoma City. Lamb hit a two-run home run in the eighth, which was his fifth longball of the year.

The Space Cowboys close out their 12-game road trip at 2:05 p.m. on Sunday in Oklahoma City. Shawn Dubin is set to take the mound for Sugar Land against Caleb Ferguson for Oklahoma City.
