Boeheim's Army to appear at Chiefs game Thursday

The Syracuse Chiefs are pleased to host members of Boeheim's Army, the team of Syracuse Basketball alumni for the upcoming event The Basketball Tournament, this upcoming Thursday, July 6th, before and during the Chiefs' 6:35 game with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

Former Orange players Trevor Cooney, Eric Devendorf, C.J. Fair, Donte Greene, Dashonte Riley, Brandon Triche and Ryan Blackwell will be on hand to throw out first pitches before the game. The players will then sign sign autographs on the concourse from 7 to 8 p.m. during the game. The members of Boeheim's Army will also be available for a media session in the conference room in the Chiefs' main office from approximately 6:30 to 6:50 p.m.
"We are thrilled to host Boeheim's Army on Thursday", said Chiefs general manager Jason Smorol. "We are always on board with supporting the Orange, past and present, and we're grateful they're sharing some of their time with us before their tournament. Let's cheer on our Chiefs and give the boys from S.U. a great sendoff before their big weekend!"
The members of Boeheim's Army who will be in appearance Thursday include Cooney, a shooting guard currently with the Long Island Nets who hit 276 three-pointers in a four-year career; Devendorf, a four-year Orange guard and current assistant strength coach with Syracuse basketball; Fair, a former Second-Team All-American forward who recently played in France; Greene, a four-year member of the Sacramento Kings who was a first-round pick after one season with Syracuse; Riley, a two-year Orange center most recently with the Idaho Stampede of the NBA G-League; Triche, a former Jamesville-DeWitt standout who started 147 games in his Syracuse career; and Blackwell, the current coach at Liverpool High School and a former S.U. standout who will serve as the Boeheim's Army head coach.
The Basketball Tournament is an annual 5-on-5 single-elimination basketball tournament, where 64 teams will play for a prize of $2 million. All games will be televised on WatchESPN. Boeheim's Army begins play as the #3 seed in the Northeast region on Saturday at 6 p.m. in Philadelphia against #14 seed Dubois Dream.
Tickets are available for Thursday's game, a $1 Thursday presented by 95X, at syracusechiefs.com, by calling 474-7833 or in person at the NBT Bank Stadium ticket office. Fans can purchase $1 Hofmann hot dogs, $1 Coca-Cola products and $2 Saranac, Coors, Labatt drafts and 1911 hard ciders on during Thursday's game.
