Indianapolis, IN (August 10, 2017) - The Syracuse Chiefs fell to the Indianapolis Indians, 3-1, Thursday night at Victory Field. Nick Kingham held the Chiefs to just two hits and one run, throwing a complete game on 85 pitches. Brandon Snyder was responsible for the lone Chiefs run, with his 15th home run of the season.

Indianapolis (64-53) started the scoring in the first inning. Max Moroff singled off Phillips Valdez with one out, and then Jordan Luplow tripled to right-center field, scoring Moroff for a 1-0 lead. Danny Ortiz followed with an RBI single to plate Luplow and push the lead to 2-0.
In the fourth, Erich Weiss doubled to start the inning. Weiss moved to third on a groundout. After Gift Ngoepe was hit by a pitch, Nick Kingham dropped down a bunt up the first-base line, and Weiss scored on the squeeze play for a 3-0 Indians lead.
Syracuse (45-73) finally cracked the scoreboard in the seventh. After posting just one hit against Kingham in the first six innings, Snyder hit a one-out solo home run over the left-field fence. Snyder's 15th home run of the season brought the score to 3-1.
But Kingham shut the Chiefs down from there, facing just one over the minimum for the game. Kingham did not walk a batter and struck out eight. For their part, the combination of Valdez, Cody Satterwhite and Austin Adams held the Indians without a hit after the fourth inning.
Syracuse and Indianapolis continue their four-game series Friday night at 7:15 p.m. Esmil Rogers is scheduled to start for the Chiefs opposite Tyler Glasnow for the Indians.
