Syracuse, NY (April 18, 2018) - The combination of Austin Voth, David Goforth, Tim Collins and Austin Adams combined to throw the 17th no-hitter in Syracuse Chiefs franchise history as Syracuse beat Indianapolis, 5-0, in game one of a doubleheader. In game two, Syracuse scored five runs in the first inning on the way to a 7-0 win. The no-hitter was the Chiefs' first since 2000, when Leo Estrella threw a seven inning perfect game, also against Indianapolis.

In game one, Syracuse (8-4) needed no time to warm the bats up with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Rafael Bautista led off with a double and moved to third base on an Adrían Sanchez groundout. José Marmolejos followed with a singled, scoring Bautista for a 1-0 Chiefs lead. Two batters later, Michael Almanzar singled to put runners on first and second base with two outs. Tuffy Gosewisch then singled to bring home Marmolejos and give Syracuse a 2-0 advantage.

The Chiefs added a run in the second. With one out, Hunter Jones worked a walk. Bautista laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance Jones to second base. Sanchez followed with a double, and Jones scored on the play to make it 3-0.

Syracuse scored again in the third. With one out, Almanzar and Gosewisch both singled to put runners on first and second. Bengie González also singled, which scored Almanzar for a 4-0 Syracuse edge.

The Chiefs increase the lead in the sixth. With the bases loaded an one out, Chris Dominguez hit a sacrifice fly to center field to bring home a run and push the Chiefs' advantage to 5-0.
The Indians reached base twice in game one on a hit-by-pitch and walk. Adams struck out Erich Weiss in the seventh to end the no-hitter.

The Chiefs' offense stayed hot in game two, posting a five-run first inning against Tyler Eppler. With Bautista at third base and Irving Falu at first base, Marmolejos hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Bautista and moving Falu to second base on the throw to home plate as the Chiefs took a 1-0 lead. Alejandro De Aza followed with a single, extending his hitting streak to nine games and scoring Falu for a 2-0 Syracuse edge. Two batters later, with De Aza on third and two outs, Almanzar doubled to bring home De Aza and make it 3-0. After a Gonzalez single put runners on first and third, starting pitcher Tommy Milone singled to score Almanzar and push the Syracuse advantage to 4-0. Two batters after that, with the bases loaded and two outs, Bautista singled, scoring Gonzalez for a 5-0 Syracuse lead as part of a seven-hit first inning.

The Chiefs put the exclamation point on the afternoon in the fourth inning. With two outs and Falu at first base, Marmolejos crushed a ball over the right-center-field wall for a two run home run to give Syracuse a 7-0 advantage.
Syracuse enters the first scheduled off-day of the season at 8-4 and sits alone in first place in the International League North. The Chiefs open a six-game road trip Friday night in Louisville at 7:00 p.m. RHP Erick Fedde is scheduled to start for Syracuse opposite RHP Robert Stephenson for Louisville.
