Syracuse (48-66) scored the lone runs of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning. José Marmolejos led off with a ground rule double down the left-field line. Chris Dominguez then grounded into a fielder's choice where Marmolejos was tagged out between third base and home plate, Severino moved to second on the play, and Dominguez was safe at first. Irving Fall also grounded into a fielder's choice where Severino advanced to third, Dominguez was out at second, but Falu beat the throw to first. Victor Robles then walked to load the bases.
