Syracuse (24-19) continued its early scoring theme from its first trip to the Lehigh Valley with a first-inning run on Tuesday. With one out, Grégor Blanco and
Lehigh Valley (22-19) answered in the bottom of the second.

Again the IronPigs didn't stay down for long, scoring in the bottom of the fifth.
The IronPigs broke the game open in the eighth. Grullon singled, Walding reached on an error, and Castillo singled to load the bases. Tomacha then singled back to the mound, for an infield hit that scored Grullon for a 5-3 lead. McBride followed with a grand slam over the left-field fence to push the Lehigh Valley advantage to six, 9-3.
Syracuse and Lehigh Valley continue their three-game series with the second game on Wednesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
