"Cancer is diagnosed in 1 out of every 285 children under the age of 20 in the United States. Although advances in treatment have improved the outlook for many children with cancer, the side effects of treatment can have long lasting consequences. The American Cancer Society takes a comprehensive approach to combating childhood cancer through funding research, advocating for policies that advance the childhood cancer agenda and improve access to quality care, and providing support for patients and their families." - www.cancer.org.
