Reyes, Rogers go yard to begin road trip
July 23, 2019

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Toledo Mud Hens have lost three of their last four games away from home following Tuesday's 5-3 drubbing to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Toledo Mud Hens have lost three of their last four games away from home following Tuesday's 5-3 drubbing to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

Traveling to Coca-Cola Park for the first time this season to begin a six-game road trip, the Mud Hens fall to 40-5 when leading after the seventh inning and 35-19 when they score first.
Tim Adleman (3-4, 3.88 ERA) got his 10th start with Toledo and threw five innings, allowing three runs on seven hits, in the non-decision.
Ramon Rosso was also a non-factor in the win for Lehigh Valley but struck out five and walked one in his ninth-career Triple-A start.
Victor Reyes, whose batting average (.307) through 68 games with Toledo ranks eighth in the International League, recorded his 10th home run in the second inning for the 1-0 lead.
The native of Barcelona, Venezuela, becomes the third active Mud Hens hitter to reach double-digit home runs and joins Mikie Mahtook (13) and Dustin Peterson (10).
Mahtook was slated in the lineup as the designated hitter but was a late scratch in replacement of Danny Woodrow.
The change wouldn't be announced until the opening pitch where Woodrow batted leadoff for the 37th time this season. His hit in the fifth inning helped extend his hitting streak to 11 games.
Lehigh Valley would score once in the second and third innings on ground ball singles by Shane Robinson and Deivy Grullon.
Grullon is the IronPigs' leader in hits (86), doubles (18), home runs (13) and RBIs (86). The 23-year-old catcher missed part of July due to his recent stint on the 7-day injured list.
The go-ahead run for Grullon was set up from Ali Castillo, who hit an RBI single in the fifth, walking and later picking up his third stolen base on the season.
That same inning saw Jake Rogers throw out his 22nd runner in a Mud Hens uniform. By including his 21 games with Double-A Erie, the 2016 third-round draft pick has a 91.6 percent (22-24) success rate through 2019.
Toledo's two-run deficit was erased in the seventh with Rogers hitting his second home run in back-to-back games. The long ball to left field came off reliever J.D. Hammer.
Rogers now ties Daz Cameron in home runs (9) for third-most on the team.
Austin Adams would pitch a two-stikeout scoreless seventh inning in his first appearance since being reinstated from the temporary inactive list.
Adams, 32, was outrighted from Detroit on July 10.
He'd leave after fielding two outs and allowing two runs to come home on consecutive wild pitches.
With the loss, the Mud Hens drop to 10-10 against IL North Division opponents.

Drew VerHagen (4-2, 4.42 ERA) is probable to start Wednesday in the second of a three-game series against the IronPigs.
