VANCOUVER, B.C., -- Adam Kloffenstein went five innings allowing three earned run, taking the loss as the Everett Aquasox topped the Vancouver Canadians 8-2 on Friday afternoon before a sold out crowd of 6,413 at Nat Bailey Stadium. For the Canadians it was their fourth loss in the past five games - moving them three games back of top spot in the North Division.
Down 3-0 heading to the bottom of the sixth inning, CF Dom Abbadessa reached on a 2B Utah Jones throwing error and later scored on a DH Jesus Lopez groundout.
The only other run the Canadians could muster was in the home half of the ninth inning when Vancouver loaded the bases on a walk and two base hits before C Brett Wright hit a sacrifice fly to left scoring DH Jesus Lopez who finished 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
Everett's LHP Brandon Williamson, the Mariners second round pick in this year's draft retired all six hitters he faced while teammate LHP Brayan Perez improved to 2-1 with his four innings of five hit baseball. RHP Adam Kloffenstein absorbed the loss to fall to 3-4 allowing six hits, three earned runs, walking one and striking out four.
Vancouver was 2-for-10 with runner's in scoring position.
The rubber match is set for Saturday night with RHP Grant Townsend meeting Mariners first rounder RHP George Kirby at 7:05pm.
