(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, B.C.) - The Vancouver Canadians Baseball Club in cooperation with FortisBC are proud to announce that former Toronto Blue Jays great Vernon Wells has been added to the 2019 Superstar Series roster. Wells will be in Vancouver out at historic Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium on Monday, July 8th at 7:05pm as the Canadians host the Everett Aquasox.
Wells played 15 Major Leagues seasons including his first 12 with the Toronto Blue Jays debuting as a 20-year old back in 1999. His breakout season came in 2003 when the outfielder hit .275 with 23 home runs and 100 RBI helping his selection to the first of three All-Star Games over his career.
Wells finished his tenure with the Blue Jays a career .280 hitter with 270 home runs and 958 RBI before he was moved to Los Angeles (Angels) and then New York (Yankees) to round out an outstanding run within Major League Baseball.
Among the accolades Wells accepted were three (3) Gold Gloves, the 2003 Silver Slugger (AL) and the 2010 Branch Rickey Award presented to a player within Major League Baseball that shows exceptional community service.
Wells joins a 2019 Superstar Series roster that includes former Blue Jays slugger Willie Upshaw (June 19), Canadian Baseball Hall of Famer & World Series winner Ryan Dempster (July 22) and New York Mets phenom Dwight Gooden (August 8) - all presented by FortisBC.
