Whitecaps Challenge Fans to Break Dime Hot Dog Record
COMSTOCK PARK, MI - The West Michigan Whitecaps' ever-popular Dime Dog promotion returns this coming Tuesday, August 4, and with it comes an opportunity for fans to pocket much more than the $3.40 per hot dog they'll save.
Fans are challenged to set a new record of 15,000 hot dogs (or $1,500 worth of Dime Dogs) eaten, breaking the current record of 14,000 dogs consumed. And there's a hefty incentive: If the 15,000 mark is reached during the August 4 game, all fans in attendance will be offered a reserved or lawn seat ticket to the following Tuesday (August 18) game for only $1.00 - a $10.50 per ticket discount!
Whitecaps Director of Marketing Mickey Graham said he's confident the dime dog record will fall.
"We're excited to see if West Michigan is up for the challenge of breaking the dime hot dog record," Graham said. "If they set their minds - and stomachs - to it, this record doesn't stand a chance."
Attendees are urged to hold on to their August 4 ticket stubs. If the record is broken, fans can exchange their stub at the box office for a $1 reserved seat or lawn seat ticket (based on availability) to the August 18 game.
Just 18 home games remain in the Whitecaps' 2015 season, with the Tuesday, August 4 game up next. Gates open at 6 p.m. and first pitch is at 7 p.m. against the Clinton LumberKings. Tickets can be purchased by phone to 616-784-4131, online at www.whitecapsbaseball.com, or in person from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Fifth Third Ballpark Box Office inside the CapSized Shop.
