WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (September 4, 2022) — The Winston-Salem Dash managed just one base hit in a 6-0 loss to Greensboro in the series finale.

The Grasshoppers put the pressure on right away, in the bottom of the first. Hudson Head singled back up the middle, then a wild pitch let him take second base. Jacob Gonzalez then drove Head in with a single into center. Abrahan Gutierrez walked after that single, then Jase Bowen singled to load the bases. Unfortunately, a walk and a hit-by-pitch forced a pair of runs home as Greensboro jumped ahead 3-0.

They kept the offense rolling in the second inning, as Mike Jarvis crushed a solo home run to make it 4-0. Later in the frame, Jacob Gonzalez blasted another solo home run to make it 4-0 ‘Hoppers.

In the fifth, Jase Bowen blasted the third solo homer of the game to push the Greensboro lead to 6-0. From there, Greensboro’s Justin Meis fired two more perfect innings in the sixth and seventh before his night came to an end. Meis was perfect across seven frames, with seven strikeouts as well. Santiago Florez was flawless in the eight inning, setting up Greensboro for a chance at a combined no-hitter. However, Caberea Weaver singled with one out and James Beard walked after him to give the Dash their first two baserunners. Winston-Salem could not drive them in though, as Greensboro won 6-0. Meis got the win on his line, while Brooks Gosswein took the loss
