WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (July 21, 2021) — The Winston-Salem Dash dominated the Jersey Shore BlueClaws on Wednesday 10-4 in game two of a six-game series.

Kaleb Roper toed the firing line for Winston-Salem and took some early heat as he allowed three consecutive singles to give Jersey Shore an early 1-0 edge before recording an out. Roper tightened up, struck out the next four batters he faced. Roper found his stride for the rest of the outing, only yielding a solo home run to Jhaylin Ortiz to push the BlueClaws ahead 2-0 in the third. Roper completed three innings of work while allowing two runs on five hits and striking out six batters.

The Dash worked some offensive mojo in the fourth inning as Luis Curbelo knocked his 13th homer—a solo bomb to left field - to put the Dash on the board 2-1.

Winston-Salem revved it up in the fifth with a three-spot helped by some shaky Jersey Shore defense. Duke Ellis walked and scored on a single by Yoelqui Cespedes. Lenyn Sosa scored on a single by Luis Robert, and Cespedes followed on a Luis Curbelo fly ball to center field which was dropped by Matt Kroon.

The Dash extended their lead to a hefty 10-4 in the seventh inning, running through the entire order to plate six runs on four hits and three walks. The barrage was highlighted by a three-run double from Lenyn Sosa, clearing the bases and blowing the game open.

The BlueClaws tacked two more on in the later innings. Sal Gozzo singled to score Nate Fassnacht on a line drive to left field in the eighth. Dash reliever Sal Biasi walked in another for Jersey Shore in the ninth.

The Dash shut the door after the rocky outing, securing a 10-4 victory. Ryan Williamson (1-1) picked up the win for Winston-Salem. Jhordany Mesquita (1-5) took the loss for Jersey Shore.

The Dash move ahead 2-0 in the series and look toward Thursday where the two teams will square off in game three. Davis Martin will take the hill for Winston-Salem.
