GRAND CHUTE, WI – The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers will play baseball again; however, they will not play in 2020. The entire season has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The announcement was made earlier today by Minor League Baseball and the news affects all levels of MiLB.

“Although we are disappointed with today’s news that the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers season, along with the rest of the 2020 Minor League season, has been cancelled, we understand the reasoning and look forward to bringing back Timber Rattlers baseball in 2021”, said Timber Rattlers President, Rob Zerjav. “We will do our best to develop some additional ways to utilize the ballpark this summer and look forward to welcoming fans out in new and creative ways.”

Fans with tickets to games scheduled for the 2020 season can visit this page at the Timber Rattlers website for information on ticket policies for canceled games this season. Timber Rattlers ticket staff will be reaching out individually to all season ticket holders and group leaders over the next few days with more information regarding 2020 tickets.

The planned giveaways and promotions for 2020 will be moved to the 2021 season and the new dates will be announced once the schedule for next season is ready.

There is one bit of good news for the Rattlers. Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium has been selected as the Alternate Training Site of the Milwaukee Brewers. Members of Milwaukee’s “Taxi Squad” will practice at the home of the Timber Rattlers during the Major League season to be ready in case they are needed by the Brewers during their shortened regular season. Timber Rattlers officials are working with Major League Baseball on the possibility of fans being allowed to watch the practices and will have an announcement about this when more information is available to the team.

This will be the first season without professional baseball in the Fox Cities since 1957. The Fox Cities Foxes, owned by Appleton Baseball Club, Inc., started play in the Three-I League in 1958 at Goodland Field. The Foxes moved to the Midwest League in 1962 and stayed at Goodland Field through the 1994 season. The team rebranded itself as the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers when Appleton Baseball Club moved the team to Fox Cities Stadium for the 1995 season. The Rattlers have been affiliated with the Milwaukee Brewers since the end of the 2008 season.

The Fox Communities Credit Union Fox Club and the Snake Pit Team Store at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium will remain open. The team store is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Fox Club is open for banquet events and business meetings based on current CDC guidelines. Contact the banquet events department at (920) 733-4152 for more information.
