Top 5 Bobbleheads
The Timber Rattlers have announced the eleven bobbleheads that will be given away during the 2014 season as part of their 20th season.
This would be a good time to take a look at the Top Five Bobbleheads that have been given away by Timber Rattlers over the years.
There are a couple of bobbleheads that just missed the list. "Fang Shooting the Bratzooka!" was always a favorite of mine. Plus, there was also that John Anderson bobblehead in 2008. The classic bobblehead series representing all of the iterations of Appleton Professional Baseball (Papermakers, Foxes, & Rattlers) that were part of the Opening Day giveaway in 2012 is also a classic
5.) Matt Erickson (2013) - The photo of Timber Rattlers manager Matt Erickson holding the Midwest League Championship trophy as he was walking off the bus when it returned from Fort Wayne after the team clinched the 2012 pennant was turned into a bobblehead. Well, the team did put a uniform on the manager instead of using his traveling outfit of shorts and a windbreaker. It turned out pretty well for the Opening Night giveaway of the 2013 season.
4.) Jonathan Lucroy (2013) - The catcher for the Milwaukee Brewers came in on a rehabilitation assignment during the 2012 season. He spent four games with the Rattlers including a Military Appreciation Night. The Rattlers designed a Jonathan Lucroy bobblehead for the following season and used the Military Appreciation night jersey. This turned into one of the biggest nights of 2013 because "People love their Lucroy".

2.) Scooter vs. the Snowman (2011) - Scooter Gennett took a bat to a snowman on what should have been Opening Day, 2010. Fortunately, the moment was captured in a photograph. Then, someone got the idea to turn it into a bobblehead for the Opening Night game in 2011.
1.) Fang & Bernie (2009) - The Timber Rattlers were looking for away to get people excited for the 2009 season. It didn't take much since 2009 was going to be the first season Wisconsin would be affiliated with the Milwaukee Brewers. At the press conference to announce the affiliation in September of 2008, Fang T. Rattler was there and Bernie Brewer was there. They posed for this picture.
I think the brainstorming meeting went a little like this:
"Hey! Why don't we turn that into a bobblehead!?"
"For opening day!?"
"Yes. For opening day!"
"How many should we give away? 1,000? 1,500"
"All Fan Giveaway…One for everyone."
"Everyone?"
"Everyone!"
I'd have to look at the minutes of that meeting to be sure.
