ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Worcester Red Sox (60-47) finished off a six-game sweep of the Rochester Red Wings (43-61) with a 2-1 win at Frontier Field on Sunday afternoon. The WooSox went 11-1 during their 12-game road trip and also picked up their second series sweep of the season.

In the series finale, it was the pitching that led the way. Starter Kyle Hart allowed a first-inning home run to Victor Robles, but dominated from that point on. The left-hander relinquished just one more hit in six-innings of one-run ball, striking out five to win his sixth game of the season.

Durbin Feltman followed with a scoreless seventh and eighth—the right-hander has now allowed one run over his last 12.1 innings of work, a stretch that began during the first week of August. Kaleb Ort entered the ninth and set down the Red Wings in order, sealing the win and Ort’s Triple-A East-leading 18th save.

Worcester’s offense, which averaged more than five runs per game in Rochester this week, had eight hits. In the first inning, Josh Ockimey went the other way with the bases loaded for an RBI single that put the WooSox on top 1-0. Over 10 games during the road trip, Ockimey reached base in nine of them and drove in eight runs.

After Robles’ home run, Johan Mieses broke the deadlock in the fifth with an RBI single to left that scored Connor Wong.

Worcester has lost one time over the last 16 days—a defeat last Sunday in Buffalo—and has outscored opponents 79-41 in that span.

The WooSox are off Monday and begin a six-game series on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs at Polar Park. Radio coverage starts live at 6:15 p.m. on 100 FM The Pike and the WooSox Radio Network. Worcester’s Daniel Gossett (6-3, 4.44) is the scheduled starter.
