Late Akron rally comes up short in 5-4 loss to Mets

Summary
The Binghamton Mets scored all five of its runs top of the sixth inning and held off a furious ninth-inning by Akron to defeat the RubberDucks 5-4 at Canal Park on Saturday night.
Turning Point
The Mets scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning following a 19-minute rain delay, after Akron led 1-0 heading into the inning. Third baseman Dustin Lawley had two-run double and first baseman Aderlin Rodriguez hit a two-run triple to drive in all the runs.
Mound Presence
RHP Cody Anderson (2-2) shut down Binghamton with five scoreless innings, allowing just three hits. He was relieved by RHP Benny Suarez in the sixth inning. Suarez was tagged for five earned runs on three hits, two walks, and a wild pitch. RHP Jacob Lee allowed a two-run triple in the sixth (both runs charged to Suarez), but he was charged with no runs in his longest appearance of the season, 3.2 IP. Binghamton starter RHP Michael Fulmer allowed a run in the fifth inning, but that was it in five innings of work.
Duck Tales
The RubberDucks (12-17) scored in the fifth inning when Todd Hankins reached on a double and scored on Jordan Smith's RBI single. The RubberDucks trailed 5-1 and added three runs during a furious ninth-inning rally when Tony Wolters led off with a double and scored on Yandy Diaz's single up the middle to make it 5-2. Jake Lowery doubled to move Diaz to third, before Bryson Myles' RBI single cut it to 5-3 and Hankins' run-scoring fielder's choice cut it to 5-4. With runners on first and second, Anthony Gallas flied out to end the game. Hankins, Smith and Wolters each had two hits for Akron.

Tyler Naquin, who left Friday's game as a precaution due to cramping, sat out tonight's game…Anderson lowered his season ERA to 1.20…The RubberDucks have lost a season-high six consecutive games and are five games under .500 for the first time this season…Akron is now 1-5 vs. Binghamton this season with eight more games scheduled between the squads…Hankins went 2-for-5 with a double to extend his hitting streak to a team-high 12 games (.305, 18-for-59).
