Akron gained the 2-0 lead with center fielder Will Benson’s leadoff home run – the first by a RubberDuck this season – and a sacrifice fly by right fielder Richie Palacios. Right-hander Thomas Ponticelli struck out two batters in a perfect bottom of the first inning before play was suspended.
