Turning Point
After rallying back from three down to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth and using a two-out RBI single to tie the game again the 11th, the Akron RubberDucks finally pulled away in the bottom of the 12th. Tena lined a single into the right-center field gap to score Ike Freeman from second base and give Akron the 5-4 win.
Mound Presence
Joey Cantillo was lights out in his start for the RubberDucks retiring the first eight batters to face him in order. Overall, Cantillo worked four scoreless innings allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out eight. Manuel Alvarez followed with an inning and a third allowing three runs. Andrew Misiaszek tossed 2.2 scoreless innings striking out three. Kevin Kelly followed with two scoreless innings and three strikeouts. Duck Tales
The RubberDucks erased the perfect game, no-hitter and shutout on one swing in the bottom of the sixth when Jonathan Engelmann launched a solo home run 382 feet to left to make it 3-1 SeaWolves. Akron did not threaten again until the eighth when an error and back-to-back singles loaded the bases with one-out. Tena stepped up and delivered an RBI single to score Engelmann and bring the Ducks closer at 3-2 Erie. However, Erie escaped the jam with a line out and fly out to leave the bases loaded without any more damage. Micah Pries tied the game in the ninth with a solo home run off the batter’s eye. The RubberDucks found themselves down to their final out in the 11th, but Will Brennan singled Tena home to tie the game at 4-4.
