Stymied in Springfield

Springfield, MO-The Springfield Cardinals handcuffed the Arkansas Travelers on Saturday, 6-1, sending the Travs to their third consecutive loss. Springfield blew the game open late with a four run seventh inning. Both teams struggled with runners in scoring position as the Travs were 0-7 and the Cards just 1-7. Two homers for the Cards accounted for four of their runs with the others coming home on a sacrifice fly and a wild pitch. Arkansas had chances throughout the game but stranded 10 men on base while getting just five total hits.
Moments That Mattered

• After Edmundo Sosa homered in the first for Springfield, Seth Mejias-Brean answered with a solo shot for the Travs to tie it in the second inning.
• Down a run, Arkansas saw three of the first four batters of the seventh inning draw walks to load the bases. Andrew Morales came out of the Cardinal bullpen to strike out Joey Curletta and Joseph Odom to end the threat.
• The Cardinals then scored four times in the bottom of that inning punctuated by a 3-run homerun from Lane Thomas on the first pitch he saw from Matt Festa.
