Zephyr Field awarded SEC site visit

Zephyr Field is one of the finalists to host the Southeastern Conference Baseball Tournament beginning in 2017, and the facility will host a site survey on Saturday, April 30 when the New Orleans Zephyrs play the Memphis Redbirds at 6 p.m.

In an effort to show the SEC what an overwhelming success the Tournament would be at Zephyr Field, the Z's are offering a special ticket discount for Saturday's game. By using the promo code "SEC" (all caps) when purchasing through Ticketmaster.com, fans will receive $5 admission.

"The SEC Tournament would be of tremendous impact to Jefferson Parish, as well as all surrounding parishes and across the region," said Zephyrs general manager Cookie Rojas. "To make it happen, we need the full support of the community and baseball fans, and showing the committee what enormous interest there is in this event would be a wonderful first impression."

The New Orleans Zephyrs, in conjunction with the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, have submitted a bid to relocate the SEC Baseball Tournament to Zephyr Field from its current home in Hoover, Alabama. Other cities bidding include Memphis, Nashville and Jacksonville.
