Farrar's Homer And Solid Pitching Fuels Snapper Win

Logan Farrar launched his fourth home run of the season en route to a Beloit Snappers (19-20) 2-0 victory over the Peoria Chiefs (22-19) in game one of a four-game series before 311 fans at Pohlman Field Monday night.

In the second inning on an 0-1 pitch in his first at bat, Farrar turned and launched a 430-foot bomb to right field to give the Snappers a 1-0 lead. Farrar took the sole lead in home runs on the team with the dinger.
After Jack Meggs led off the third inning with a double, Jesus Lopez brought him home on a RBI single to give the Snappers pitching all the support they needed.
The Snappers got their second shutout win of the season. They also dealt the Chiefs their first shutout loss of the season.
Right-hander Mitchell Jordan went 4.2 innings of shutout ball, racking up four strikeouts before Ty Damron and Seth Martinez handled the last 4.1 innings. Overall, Snappers pitching let up just seven hits and racked up 10 strikeouts.
The Chiefs biggest threat came in the second inning, when they had bases loaded and one out. Jordan escaped by getting a pop up and strikeout.
Catcher Jordan Devencenzi extended his hitting streak to eight games with a bunt single in the eighth. Over the streak, he is batting .357 with five doubles and just three strikeouts. The Snappers also pushed their extra-base team hitting streak to 26 games
Hunter Hargrove was unable to keep his hitting streak, coming to an end at 15 games. During the streak, he hit .393 with eight doubles, six RBI and only five strikeouts in 56 at bats. His hit streak was the longest active streak in the Midwest League at the time and on the season, he has reached base safely in 15-of-17 games at home.
The Snappers have now won six of their last seven games, including their last three game while sitting 2.5 games back of first place.
On the mound for the Snappers Tuesday will be left-hander Ivan Andueza (0-1, 5,87). He will be opposed by right-hander Alvaro Seijas (1-2, 5.91). First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
