Snappers Dunn in By Another Walk-Off
Second Game-Winning Homer in Three Days Stings Beloit
BOWLING GREEN, KY - Ryan Dunn crushed a walk-off home run over the left field wall in the bottom of the ninth inning
on Saturdaynight to lift the Bowling Green Hot Rods over the Beloit Snappers 4-3 in Midwest League action at Bowling Green Ballpark.
The Snappers have now lost three in a row as they slide to 60-38 (17-11 in the second half). The Hot Rods record now stands at 58-39 (20-9 in the second half).
The walk-off bomb capped Bowling Green's comeback from an early deficit. Beloit sprinted to a 3-0 lead, scoring all three runs in the third. Nick Rickles tallied the first run on an RBI Daniel Robertson single. A groundout and a wild pitch scored the other two.
In the fourth, the Hot Rods got on the board thanks to a Leonardo Reginatto triple, which was followed by a Joey Rickard double. Luke Maile (2-3, 2 RBI) evened the score one frame later with a two-run double.
Both bullpens silenced the bats for the next few innings as Derek DeYoung, after allowing the tying run, shut out the Hot Rods for the next three frames. Jose Molina (3-2) took the mound for Bowling Green and he pitched three innings without allowing a run, including a scoreless ninth. Tyler Vail (4-3) was called on in the bottom of the ninth but, after getting the first two hitters, his night was ruined by Dunn's shot.
On Sunday, these two teams will play an evening game scheduled to start at 5:05pm. The Snappers are scheduled to pitch RHP Dakota Bacus (8-3, 4.04 ERA) and the Hot Rods will counter with LHP Jordan Harrison (1-2, 4.08 ERA).
