COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. —The Beloit Sky Carp got another outstanding pitching performance but couldn’t get the bats going enough to avoid a 2-1 defeat to West Michigan Sunday afternoon.

Beloit out-hit West Michigan 7-6 but left seven men on base in the defeat. The Sky Carp scored its only run in the second inning on an error on a ball hit by Marcus Chiu that plated Davis Bradshaw.

West Michigan scored its only two runs in the fourth inning against Beloit starter Zach King. King (2-3) allowed two runs in five innings. He didn’t walk a batter while striking out eight Whitecaps.

The Beloit bullpen was again terrific, allowing just two hits in three scoreless innings, two of them by Josan Mendez and the final by Sean Reynolds.

The Sky Carp will take Monday off before hosting Peoria in the first game of a six-game series and a 12-game homestand. The game Tuesday night is scheduled for 6:35 p.m., with gates opening at 5:30. Visit Skycarp.com for tickets.
