BELOIT — The Beloit Sky Carp got their 12-game final homestand off to a tough start with a 5-3 loss to Peoria Tuesday night at ABC Supply Stadium.

The Chiefs rallied from a 2-0 deficit and eventually plated a pair of runs against Beloit reliever Tyler Eckburg in the ninth to walk away with the win.

Beloit put the tying runs aboard in the ninth, but couldn’t get the big hit necessary to flip the game.

Sky Carp starting pitcher M.D. Johnson, the Midwest League’s leader in ERA, lived up to his billing. Johnson allowed only two hits, one of them being a solo home run from Tommy Jew, in six innings. He didn’t walk a batter and struck out three Chiefs.

After Johnson departed with a 2-1 lead, the Chiefs plated a pair of runs in the top of the seventh to take the lead against Beloit reliever Chris Mokma.

Cody Morissette had a role in the first three runs the Sky Carp scored. He drove home Dalvy Rosario in the third inning with the game’s first run, then chased home Kyler Castillo with a grounder to make it 2-0 in the fifth.

Beloit tied the game at 3-3 in the seventh when Morissette led off with a single and eventually came around to score on a single by Victor Mesa Jr.

The Snappers and Chiefs will continue their six-game series Wednesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m., with gates opening at 5:30.
