Shuckers Outscore Trash Pandas 11-1 in Doubleheader Sweep

BILOXI, MS – Behind the pitching staff’s fourth shutout of the year in game one and a season-high seven runs in the first in game two, the Biloxi Shuckers (18-12) swept the Rocket City Trash Pandas (14-16) in a doubleheader on Thursday at MGM Park. The wins extended the Shuckers win streak to four straight, and extended their win streak against Rocket City to six.

In game one, Brewers Minor League Pitcher of the Month, Justin Jarvis, dominated to the tune of of five shutout innings with four strikeouts. Zavier Warren provided all the offense needed with a two-run blast in the fourth after a Jeferson Quero double that gave the Shuckers a 2-0 lead. The home run was Warren’s second straight day with a homer.

After Jarvis departed, Justin Yeager struck out one in a scoreless inning in his first appearance since being activated off the injured list. Zach Vennaro threw a perfect seventh to earn his first save of the year and finish a 2-0 Shuckers win.

Jarvis (4-1) earned the win while Mason Erla (1-3) took the loss after tossing his first career complete game.

In game two, the Shuckers exploded for seven runs in the first inning on one hit. Noah Campbell singled to lead off the game before five walks, a hit batter and an error drove in the seven runs. It included Zavier Warren being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, extending his RBI streak to three.

Shuckers starter Adam Seminaris, staked to a 7-0 lead, twirled his best start of the year. Over five innings, Seminaris allowed on hit, an RBI double in the third from Orlando Martinez. He also tied his season-high with seven strikeouts.

The Shuckers tallied another in the second with an RBI groundout from Zavier Warren. He then drove in the Shuckers final run with a fielder’s choice in the fourth with the bases loaded. Warren ended the day with five RBI between the two games, tying Tyler Black, Jackson Chourio and Freddy Zamora for the team lead with 18.

Up 9-1, reliever James Meeker finished off the sweep with two scoreless innings and two strikeouts. Seminaris (2-3) earned the win while Jose Siriano (0-2) took the loss for the Trash Pandas.

The Shuckers and Trash Pandas are set to meet tomorrow in the fourth game of the series at MGM Park with a 6:35 p.m. first pitch. Tobias Myers (2-0, 4.50) is set to start for Biloxi. Rocket City has yet to name a starter. Fans can stay after the game for fireworks immediately following the game presented by Floor Co.
