BILOXI, MS – Despite being down 6-1 after three and a half innings, the Biloxi Shuckers (25-24) used a three-run fourth and a five-run fifth to earn a comeback win over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (30-19), 10-7, on Friday night at MGM Park. The win for Biloxi helped split the first four games of the series with Pensacola.

The Blue Wahoos’ offense started off with a bang in the first inning. After the first two runners reached, Dane Myers smashed a three-run home run that gave Pensacola an early 3-0 lead. They extended the lead in the third with an RBI single from Cody Morrissette.

In the bottom of the inning, Biloxi jumped on the board with an RBI double from Jeferson Quero that scored Isaac Collins from first. The double helped Quero tally his second straight multi-hit game.

In the fourth, Pensacola tallied two more runs with Dane Myers’ second home run of the game that extended the lead to 6-1. The Shuckers battled back in the bottom half with a three-run home run from Wes Clarke, his fourth of the year. Pensacola extended the lead to 7-4 with a single from Cody Morrissette in the fifth.

The Shuckers offense exploded in the bottom half of the fifth. After the first two batters reached on a walk, Zavier Warren doubled down the left-field line to score both and bring the Shuckers within one. Then, after the bases were loaded four batters later, Clarke drew an RBI walk to tie the game at seven. The Shuckers then took a 9-7 lead when Felix Valerio reached on a fielder’s choice and the errant throw to first went into the crowd.

Up 9-7, Shuckers’ reliever T.J. Shook settled the game down and held the Blue Wahoos at bay. Between the sixth and the eighth inning, Shook allowed two runners to reach and struck out three. The Shuckers then reached double-digits in the seventh on an RBI single from Valerio that scored Carlos Rodriguez.

In the ninth, closer Abner Uribe notched his fourth save of the year with a perfect inning, including two strikeouts.

Shook (2-1) earned the win for Biloxi while Will Stewart (2-1) took the loss.
