Shuckers Rewrite Record Books in Dominant 19-1 Win Over Blue Wahoos

PENSACOLA, FL – The Biloxi Shuckers (65-68, 30-38) used a historic offensive performance to defeat the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (79-57, 43-24), 19-1, on Saturday night at Blue Wahoos Stadium in the penultimate game of the regular season. The 19 runs tied the single-game franchise record, set on July 20, 2024, against the Montgomery Biscuits. The Shuckers also tied the single-game record with nine extra-base hits, set and tied four different times, including three times this season. The 19 runs also brought the Shuckers season total to 759, the most in a single season in franchise history. Entering the final day of the regular season, the Shuckers have set new team records for runs (759), home runs (178) and stolen bases (251). The 178 home runs are tied with the 1999 Huntsville Stars for the most by a Milwaukee Brewers Double-A affiliate since their affiliate joined the circuit that same year. Andrew Fischer also hit his 48^th home run of the season, extending his lead for the most by a Minor League Player this century. Fischer needs a pair on the final day of the regular season to record the first 50-home run season in Minor League Baseball since 1982.

The Shuckers took a 2-0 lead after one with an RBI single from Damon Keith and a sacrifice fly from Eric Bitonti. In the fourth, Braylon Payne made it 5-0 with his first home run of the night, a 428-foot three-run blast to center. In the fifth, the Shuckers made it 8-0 with three wild pitches, scoring Damon Keith, Matthew Wood and Daniel Dickinson. The Shuckers made it 9-0 in the sixth with Braylon Payne’s second home run of the game, a 436-foot solo shot to right-center. Later in the inning, the lead stretched to 13-0 with a two-RBI double from Matthew Wood and RBI doubles from Daniel Dickinson and Mark Coley II. In the ninth, Andrew Fischer recorded his 28^th home run of the season in Double-A and his 48^th overall, making it 14-0. An RBI single from Daniel Dickinson, RBI double from Mike Boeve and a two-run home run from Mark Coley II stretched the lead to 19-0 before the inning ended. In the bottom of the ninth, Dylan Jasso made it 19-1 with an RBI double to left-center.

Josh Knoth (1-0) earned the win after 5.0 shutout innings with seven strikeouts. Emmett Olson (0-1) took the loss. Travis Smith (1.0ip, 2k) and Ryan Birchard (1.0ip, 3k) each recorded scoreless relief appearances. At the plate, Braylon Payne (3-for-6), Andrew Fischer (2-for-5), Damon Keith (3-for-5), Daniel Dickinson (2-for-4) and Mark Coley II (2-for-5) each recorded multi-hit performances. The Shuckers also drew 12 walks, one shy of tying the single-game franchise record. The lineup has drawn 38 across the first five games of the season.
