Binghamton Scores Franchise-Record 23 Runs, Voit Ties Franchise Mark with Five Hits in Largest Win in Franchise History

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (14-22) scored a franchise-record 23 runs on 21 hits, as seven different hitters recorded multi-hit games in a 23-3 rout of the Hartford Yard Goats (15-21) on Thursday night at Mirabito Stadium. Binghamton broke the record of 18 runs in a game that was set on April 11, 2008, at Erie.

It is Binghamton’s largest margin of victory in franchise history, breaking the record of 14 runs set on July 27, 2025, against Reading. The Rumble Ponies led 1-0 entering the third inning, before erupting for eight runs in the frame to build a 9-0 advantage.

Twelve batters came to the plate in the third. Right fielder Yohairo Cuevas doubled to lead off the inning for his first Double-A hit, and second baseman Mitch Voit, who tied a single-game franchise record with five hits and five runs scored, drove him home with a single.

Voit tied Joey Terdoslavich for the most hits in a game, set on July 25, 2018, against Bowie, and tied Ryan Clifford for the most runs scored, set on July 27, 2025, against Reading.

Two batters later, with two runners aboard, third baseman Billy Amick launched a three-run home run. The Rumble Ponies kept rolling four batters later when center fielder John Bay singled and first baseman Corey Collins was hit by a pitch, before left fielder JT Benson crushed a three-run homer for his first Double-A long ball.

Right-hander Gary Gill Hill (W, 1-0) tossed 5.0 scoreless innings, allowing just three hits while striking out four in his first Double-A start with Binghamton and his New York Mets organization debut. The offense gave him even more support in the fourth inning, extending the lead to 13-0.

With one out, catcher Chris Suero walked before Amick blasted his second home run of the night, a two-run shot. Amick homered in back-to-back innings. It marked the second multi-homer game by a Binghamton hitter this season, joining Nick Lorusso's performance on August 1 at Reading. Amick finished with six RBI, three shy of the single-game franchise record of nine set by Jhoan Urena on August 27, 2018, against Hartford.

Later in the fourth, Bay singled for the second of his first Double-A three-hit game before Collins followed with a two-run homer, his third at the Double-A level. Binghamton reached the four-home run mark for the fourth time this season.

The Rumble Ponies increased their lead to 16-0 in the fifth, scoring three runs on four hits. Voit singled to open the inning, followed by a hit from Reimer and a walk to Suero. Amick forced in a run with a bases-loaded walk before Bay lined a two-run single, setting a Double-A career high with three RBI while matching his season high from High-A Brooklyn. Collins added a single for his fifth multi-hit game, but the inning ended with the bases loaded.

Binghamton pushed the lead to 18-0 in the sixth on Suero's RBI single, his second hit of the night, and Bay's sacrifice fly, tying the franchise record for runs in a game. The Rumble Ponies broke the record an inning later when Reimer's sacrifice fly scored Benson to make it 19-0.

Right-hander Douglas Orellana worked a scoreless sixth and seventh innings with two strikeouts before left-hander Gabby Rodriguez took over in the eighth. Hartford scored two runs on Roc Riggio's two-run single, which plated Andy Perez, who walked, and GJ Hill, who reached on a fielder's choice.

Leading 19-2, Binghamton answered with four more runs in the bottom of the eighth. Amick reached on a catcher's interference committed by Jimmy Obertop, Collins walked, and Cuevas followed with an RBI single for his first Double-A RBI.

One batter later, Voit ripped an RBI double, his seventh of the season, to cap his five-hit night. The Rumble Ponies added two more runs on a wild pitch and the third catcher's interference. With Voit at third, shortstop Jefferson Rojas reached on catcher's interference before right-hander Hunter Mann threw the ball out of play without time having been granted, allowing Voit to score and extend the lead to 23-2.

In the ninth, right-hander Bryce Jenkins allowed a solo home run to left fielder Mike Antico, but third baseman Dyan Jorge grounded into a tailor-made 6-4-3 double play to end the game.

Binghamton was one hit shy of a franchise record for hits in a game, which was 22, set on April 11, 2008, against Erie.
