BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets, announced on Monday that Matt Levine has been elevated to the team’s lead play-by-play broadcaster and Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations.

Levine remains with Double-A Binghamton in a larger role, after spending the last three seasons (2023-25) with the club as the Broadcasting and Media Relations Assistant.

His responsibilities will include lead play-by-play for all games airing on WNBF News Radio 1290 AM & 92.1 FM, MiLB.TV, and Bally Sports Live. Levine will also steer the team’s media relations efforts and contribute to social media and content creation.

“I am thrilled to step into the lead role and continue my career in Binghamton,” Levine said. “I am excited to keep building relationships in the Southern Tier community, the New York Mets organization, and beyond. It is an honor to share these stories. I look forward to continuing to have a front row seat to the development of players, as they come through Binghamton on their path to Major League Baseball.”

Levine, 25, is also the television play-by-play voice of the Stony Brook University women’s basketball team with games airing on SportsNet New York (SNY). Additionally, he is the sideline reporter for Stony Brook football broadcasts. Levine got his start with Stony Brook Athletics as a Strategic Communications Assistant in the fall of 2022.

During the offseason, he also contributes as a play-by-play broadcaster at St. John’s University and Long Island University.

“The Rumble Ponies are pleased to welcome Matt back to Rumbletown as the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations,” said Rumble Ponies Director of Marketing Eddie Saunders. “Matt has demonstrated the commitment to delivering a great broadcasting experience to those who listen both locally and afar to foster Rumble Ponies team pride. We look forward to his continued work with the players and coaching staff to share their unique stories and help make all of them household names on their journey to Queens.”

Levine’s baseball play-by-play experience comes from three seasons in Minor League Baseball as the Broadcasting and Media Relations Assistant for Double-A Binghamton. He previously spent four seasons with the Maryland Baseball Network, including two years as the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations for the student-run flagship station of the Terrapins. Additionally, Levine spent the summer of 2021 broadcasting for the Falmouth Commodores in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League.

Levine previously served as the Station Director for WMUC Sports Radio, the student-run sports radio station at the University of Maryland, College Park. He called games for Maryland football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and many other sports. Levine also contributed as a television play-by-play broadcaster for Big Ten Plus and served as a Media Relations Intern for Maryland Athletics.

During his time at Maryland, Levine was tabbed as an All-American by the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America, which recognizes the top collegiate sports broadcasters in the country. He covered two NCAA Baseball Regionals, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament, Big Ten Baseball Tournament, Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament, and the New Era Pinstripe Bowl.

Levine was born and raised on Long Island and grew up as a fan of the New York Mets. He graduated from the University of Maryland’s Philip Merrill College of Journalism with a bachelor’s degree in journalism in 2022.

Levine takes over for Jacob Wilkins, who served in the role for six seasons and stepped down in December. He shared the booth with Wilkins for three seasons. Levine will begin as the Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations this month.
