BRADENTON, FL — After the St. Lucie Mets erased a six-run deficit, the Bradenton Marauders walked it off to win 8-7 on Friday night at LECOM Park. The Marauders extend their season-best winning streak to eight games, which is one win short of tying the franchise record. With the win, Bradenton also secured a series victory for the second straight week in their 12-game homestand.

Both teams were tied at seven in the ninth when Ernesto Mercedes (0-3) retired the first two hitters in the inning. Shalin Polanco doubled and ended up scoring on an Eddy Rodriguez single to left-centerfield for the Marauders second walk-off win of the week and fourth of the season.

Bradenton came out firing on offense in the first inning against Jack Wenninger. Keiner Delgado doubled and scored on a Kalae Harrison single to make it 1-0 Bradenton. After back-to-back walks to Polanco and Rodriguez, Esermlyn Valdez hit an inside the park grand slam to push the lead to 5-0.

Solomon Maguire blasted a solo-home run for the second straight evening to push the Bradenton advantage to 6-0.

St. Lucie chipped away at the deficit by scoring a run in the fifth on a Kevin Villavicencio RBI single and then clubbing a pair of home runs in the sixth against Michael Kennedy. Jeffry Rosa hit a solo home run to left before Boston Bero doubled and scored on a two-run home run from Jose Hernandez to trim the Bradenton lead to 6-4. Kennedy worked a career-high 6.0 innings for the second straight start.

The Mets ultimately took their first lead of the game in the seventh. After Tyler Kennedy retired the first two hitters, Colin Houck reached on an error and scored on a Jesus Baez double to make it a one-run contest. Kennedy departed after hitting a batter and issuing a walk. Hunter Furtado entered with the bases loaded and Bradenton ahead 6-5 with Baro at the plate. The Mets infielder then singled home two runs to give the Mets their first lead at 7-6.

The lead didn’t last for long as Mercedes issued a one-out walk to Jeral Toledo in the seventh. Toledo advanced on a pair of passed balls from Ronald Hernandez before scoring on a wild pitch to tie the game at seven.

Landon Tomkins (1-0) entered in the eighth with runners at first and second with two-outs and induced an inning-ending groundout before retiring the side in order in the ninth. Bradenton won the game in the bottom half of the frame.

The Marauders and Mets continue their six-game series at LECOM Park on Saturday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., with pregame coverage beginning at 6:10 p.m. on the Marauders Broadcast Network. Bradenton sends RHP Khristian Curtis (0-2, 5.21) to the hill opposite of RHP Wyatt Hudepohl (1-1, 3.05) for St. Lucie.
