BRADENTON, FL - In the first game of a three game series at LECOM Park, the Bradenton Barbanegras dropped to a game back in the Florida State League's South Division with a 5-4 defeat at the hands of the Dunedin Blue Jays. The FSL's best club thus far plated a run in the top half of the ninth inning for their third consecutive frame with a score as four of their five total runs came from the seventh inning on.
RHP Max Kranick worked through six innings for the fourth consecutive start in a no decision, tossing six innings and allowing a single run on just three hits and exited the game with the score tied at one. LHP Joe Jacques allowed his first runs as a Marauder after he gave up three of them on three hits and a trio of walks, but thanks to some timely late hitting was able to earn a no decision.
After a Deon Stafford solo home run in the seventh inning, DH Daniel Amaral clubbed a two-RBI single up the middle to bring the Barbanegras tied once again in a game they never led. That was the final offense for the home side on Friday night as RHP Ryan Valdes took the loss on the hill after giving up a leadoff double in the ninth that was brought around on a passed ball following a strikeout that gave the Blue Jays the lead for good. With Fort Myers and Palm Beach both winning on Friday night, the Marauders settled in to a tie with Palm Beach in second place in the South, a game behind Fort Myers.
The Marauders and Blue Jays will continue their three game set on Saturday on Margaritaville Night at LECOM Park presented by LaPensee Plumbing, Pools, and Air. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 pm and RHP Hunter Stratton is scheduled to take the hill for Bradenton.
