TAMPA, FL — In their first matchup against each other in 2024, the Bradenton Marauders scraped by the Tampa Tarpons 4-3 on Tuesday night at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

Domingo Germán made his Pirates organizational debut on Tuesday, where he allowed just one run in four innings while striking out four and walking three. The right-hander had spent the last previous six seasons in the Major Leagues with the New York Yankees.

The Marauders scored all four runs in the fourth inning against Gabriel Barbosa (0-5). Keiner Delgado singled to start the frame before Barbosa struck out the next two hitters. Esmerlyn Valdez was then hit by a pitch before Omar Alfonzo singled home Delgado to give Bradenton a 1-0 lead. Solomon Maguire clubbed a three-run home run to close out the four-run frame.

The lone run allowed against Germán came in the bottom half of the inning, a solo blast from Jackson Castillo to cut the deficit to 4-1.

The Tarpons chipped away with a two-run eighth against Hung Leng Chang (2-1). Three of the first four batters reached to bring up Tomas Frick with the bases loaded, who lined an infield single back off Chang’s leg to score Dylan Jasso and cut the deficit to 4-2. After Brenny Escanio struck out, Manuel Palencia reached on an infield to score another and end Chang’s day. Magdiel Cotto (SV,2) entered and struck out Hans Montero to leave the bases loaded and enter the ninth with a 4-3 advantage.

In the bottom of the ninth, Cotto walked the bases loaded before inducing a game-ending lineout to Frick to hold on and extend the Marauders franchise-record winning streak to 11-games.

Bradenton’s pitching staff held the Tarpons to hit 2-for-14 with runners in scoring position and left 15 stranded on the bases.

The Marauders and Tarpons continue their series on Wednesday night at George M. Steinbrenner Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., with pregame coverage beginning at 6:10 p.m. on the Marauders Broadcast Network.
