BRADENTON, Fla. — After being no-hit for six innings, the Marauders build a late lead and danced around comeback threats by the Clearwater Threshers in a 4-3 win on Friday night at LECOM Park.

The win brought the Marauders (38-20) back to 18 games over .500, matching the club’s season-high.

Threshers (30-28) starter Mick Abel tossed five hitless innings, matching career-highs in both strikeouts (eight) and walks (four).

Abel battled with Marauders right-hander Logan Hofmann, who allowed just four hits over a career-high six scoreless innings, walking none and striking out five.

After being held hitless by reliever Hsin-Chieh Lin (0-1) in the sixth, the Marauders got a leadoff single in the bottom of the seventh from Sammy Siani, breaking the Clearwater no-hit bid. Siani went on to steal both second and third base, then scored the game’s first run on a wild pitch by Lin. After a pair of strikeouts, Jase Bowen drew a two-out walk, and Hudson Head homered to right-center for a 3-0 Marauders lead. The home run was Head’s eighth of the season, tying him for second-most in the league alongside Bowen.

Eddy Yean (4-1), who had tossed a scoreless seventh for Bradenton, surrendered a two-run homer to Johan Rojas in the eighth, cutting the Marauders lead to 3-2. Yean then allowed a one-out single and a walk before striking out two batters, stranding the tying and go-ahead runners to maintain the lead.

The Marauders got an RBI-single from Endy Rodriguez in the bottom of the eighth for an insurance run, but Yean struggled in the ninth. After retiring the first batter, Yean hit Uziel Viloria with a pitch and walked Luis Garcia. Enmanuel Mejia entered to pitch and walked Nicolas Torres and Johan Rojas, the latter of which forced home a run. With a narrow one-run lead and the bases full, Mejia bore down to strike out Rixon Wingrove swinging and Juan Aparicio looking, ending the game, and giving Mejia his sixth save of the season.

Maikol Escotto went 0-for-3 with a walk for the Marauders to extend his on-base streak to 18 games, one shy of matching his season-high. Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with a walk, giving him a 10-game on-base streak.

The series continues Saturday with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m. at LECOM Park. RHP Adrian Florencio will start for the Marauders against RHP Victor Vargas for the Threshers.
