BRADENTON, FL — The Bradenton Marauders collected their first win of the season by shutting out the Clearwater Threshers 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at LECOM Park. Khristian Curtis, Magdiel Cotto, Yoldin De La Paz, and Landon Tomkins combined for the first Marauders shutout since August 25, 2023 against the Jupiter Hammerheads. The Marauders bullpen retired the final 20 batters in a row to end the contest with the last man reaching in the third inning.

Bradenton’s offense broke through in the third against Mavis Graves (0-1). Juan Jerez and Jesus Castillo began the frame with back-to-back walks before Ji Hwan Bae grounded into a double play. A throwing error by Niakau Pouaka-Grego on the play scored Jerez and the Marauders held a 1-0 after three innings.

Jerez worked a one-out walk in the fifth and later scored on a Bae RBI single to centerfield to double the Marauders advantage at 2-0.

In the seventh, Jauri Custodio scored on a Garret Forrester groundout to extend the Bradenton lead to 3-0. Jerez completed the game’s scoring with a two-out double that plated Justin Miknis in the eighth. Tomkins (SV,1) earned his first career save, striking out four in two scoreless innings.

In his first game on rehab with the Marauders, Bae finished the afternoon 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

The Marauders bullpen ended up striking out eight and not issuing any walks in the final six innings. The Bradenton pitching staff struck out at least 10 Threshers in each of the three games in the series.

After an off day on Monday, the Marauders will travel to Lakeland, FL to begin a six-game series against the Flying Tigers on Tuesday at Joker Marchant Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., with pregame coverage beginning at 6:10 pm on the Marauders Broadcast Network. Bradenton will send RHP Carlos Jimenez to the mound, while the Flying Tigers have yet to name a starter.
