Marauders Rout Lakeland to Level Series

Bradenton, Fla. — The Marauders (17-12) took on Lakeland (12-17) in game two of their series at LECOM Park on Wednesday night, with the home team looking to avenge an extra-inning loss on Tuesday night that saw a late offensive explosion from the Tigers. It would be the Baby Buccos that enjoyed the spoils with the bat in hand on Wednesday, though, as they homered twice at put over 15 runs on the board on the way to an emphatic 16-3 victory.

The Tigers got off to a solid start, scoring a run in the top of the first after putting a pair of men in scoring position with one away. The run came into score on a wild pitch, but Marauders starter Owen Kellington would swiftly gain control of the inning and strikeout a pair to end the frame.

Bradenton answered with a pair of runs in the home first thanks to Rodolfo Nolasco's two-run homer that put the boys in black and yellow up a run after an inning played. In the second, Javier Rivas would drive a solo shot to less to make it 3-1 after a pair of innings played.

The Marauder's most impressive offensive frame was the third; the 'Ders put up seven runs in the inning, with Tanner Treadway, Alexander Mojica, Javier Rivas, Geovanny Planchart, and Jesus Castillo all recording RBI hits.

Bradenton's pitchers also put on a show for those in attendance; Owen Kellington struck out five in his three innings of work, followed by Carlos Lomeli, who tossed three perfect frames striking out two. Darvin Garcia and Yoldin De La Paz finished off the Tigers in the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings.

The offense of Bradenton did not let up all game, putting up at least one run in every inning until the eighth when Tigers infielder Moises Valero kept the Baby Buccos scoreless.

The Marauders will look to take the series lead on Thursday night at LECOM Park with Alessandro Ercolani on the mound.
