TAMPA, FL — Carlson Reed (3-1) tossed a career-high six innings as the Bradenton Marauders defeated the Tampa Tarpons 3-1 on Thursday night at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

Neither side scratched across a run until the fourth inning when Jackson Castillo belted a solo-home run to right field to hand the Tarpons a 1-0 lead.

Tampa’s lead didn’t last long as Bradenton answered with three runs in the fifth against Cade Smith (1-2). Keiner Delgado reached on an error to start before Omar Alfonzo singled and Esmerlyn Valdez walked to load the bases for Eddy Rodriguez who doubled down the left field line to score all three to give Bradenton a 3-1 lead.

After going five innings in in his last two starts, Reed worked six frames on Thursday to become the second Marauder pitcher to do so this year, joining Michael Kennedy who has done it twice. In his final line, the right-hander allowed just four hits and walked one while striking out three on just 69 pitches.

Yoldin De La Paz sat down all six batters he faced before Landon Tomkins (SV,4) entered for the ninth and retired the side in order on just eight pitches to secure a victory. All three pitchers combined to retire the final 11 Tarpons in the game.

With a walk in the fifth, Valdez extended his on-base streak to 17 games, which is the longest active streak in the Florida State League.

The Marauders and Tarpons continue their series on Friday night at George M. Steinbrenner Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., with pregame coverage beginning at 6:10 p.m. on the Marauders Broadcast Network. Bradenton turns to LHP Michael Kennedy (1-1, 3.72) on the hill, while LHP Allen Facundo (0-1, 3.60) goes opposite for Tampa.
