Columbus, OH --- A throwing error by shortstop Willy Adames brought home the eventual winning run in the eighth as Columbus beat Durham 3-2 on Tuesday night at Huntington Park.
With two outs, Giovanny Urshela rolled a grounder toward Adames, who threw on the run low and off the glove of first baseman Casey Gillaspie. Erik Kratz, who was hit on the arm to begin the inning by Jeff Ames (L, 0-1), scored from second base to break a 2-2 tie.
Meanwhile, Yoel Espinal filling in for Jacob Faria, issued a career-high seven walks in 2 1/3 innings, including five in the first inning alone. Espinal forced in Columbus' two runs in the opening inning on consecutive four-pitch walks. Faria was recalled to the majors for a Tuesday night start against Toronto.
Wilson Ramos marked continued progress on his major league rehab with a solo home run in the first inning, his first game with Durham (39-24).
Mike McKenry was 2-4 for the Bulls, with a single, double, RBI and two other hard hit outs.
In the two innings in which the Clippers (31-32) scored runs, they did not accrue a hit. Columbus managed three hits in the entire game, with two in the fifth inning and one in the seventh.
