Norfolk, VA --- A wild pitch with two outs in the bottom of the 10th scored Drew Dosch with the winning run as the Norfolk Tides edged the Durham Bulls 5-4 at Harbor Park on Friday night.
Dosch doubled to start the inning against Danny Farquhar (L, 0-1), then advancing to third on a groundball to second base. After Farquhar struck out Chance Sisco, David Washington saw a pitch whiz past his feet to the backstop to bring Dosch home to end the game at 11:52 pm ET.
With the Bulls (56-35) and Tides (38-54) even at 3-3 in the fifth, heavy rain halted play for over 90 minutes before resuming at 10:00 pm ET. A throwing error by catcher Curt Casali scored Alvarez from third base in the sixth, but Casali doubled home Patrick Leonard in the eighth to even the score.
Earlier, the Bulls took a 1-0 lead in the first on a two-out single by Leonard, scoring Johnny Field from third. After the Tides evened the game in the bottom half, Leonard struck for a two-run homer in the third against starting pitcher Jayson Aquino for a 3-1 advantage.
Paul Janish drove a two-run shot against Austin Pruitt in the fourth to even the game.
Pruitt worked four innings, allowing six hits and three runs.
The series continues on Saturday night at 7:05 PM ET with Ryan Yarbrough (8-4, 3.79) opposing Tyler Wilson (2-5, 4.91).
