RiverDogs Extend Thirsty Thursdays With Postgame Concert Series Presented by Palmetto Brewery

Club to Feature Local and Regional Bands after Thursday Night Home Games
April 10, 2014

CHARLESTON, SC - Thursday nights with the Charleston RiverDogs at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park have always been the place to be for those in their 20s and 30s who wish to begin their weekends early. The club has partnered with Palmetto Brewery to extend their spring and summer evenings with a postgame concert series that features local and regional bands.

"Our fans thoroughly enjoy our Thirsty Thursdays and we wanted to give them a reason to stick around at The Joe just a little bit longer on those nights," said RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols. "We're excited to partner with the oldest, and one of the most popular, breweries in the state in Palmetto Brewery on this postgame concert series. It's sure to be an addition to Thirsty Thursdays that our fans will enjoy."

Beginning with tonight's game against the Augusta GreenJackets that begins with a 7:05 pm first pitch, the RiverDogs will keep the Riley Park gates open a tad longer for fans to enjoy the sounds of the Shem Creek Blues Band.

Led by Scottie Frier, the Shem Creek Blues Band blends a mix of acoustic rock, folk and blues together for a unique Southern sound all his own. With music comparable to the Allman Brothers, Tom Petty, Hootie & the Blowfish and Train, Frier and his pals put together a wide variety of music that will be enjoyed by all present. Frier, born and raised in Columbia, has been performing his unique brand of acoustic music since 2008 and has been well received in the local music scene.

And then on Thursday, April 17, after the RiverDogs entertain the Rome Braves with a 7:05 pm first pitch, The Dunder Chiefs of Rock Hill that feature a mixture of folk, rock and bluegrass, will perform. The Dunder Chiefs were created after the lead singer (Will Thompson) and the bassist ("Nog" Michael Linog) ended their last band Polar War.

More bands will perform after each Thirsty Thursday game, and the list will be released and available on www.riverdogs.com at a later date.

The various groups will perform near the Beer Garden, which is located near the front entrance of Riley Park.

Palmetto Brewery is the oldest operating brewery in South Carolina. Founded by Ed Falkenstein in 1993, Palmetto Brewery has been making tasty beer for more than a decade. They offer four main brews available all year round: Charleston Lager, Amber Ale, Pale Ale, and Espresso Porter. Palmetto Brewery also features four seasonal brews available different times throughout the year: Ginger Slap, Aftershock, A.M. Wood, and Ghost Rider.

Tickets are now on sale for the RiverDogs 2014 season. The home portion of the schedule has begun. The Augusta GreenJackets are currently in town for a four game series beginning this evening.
