CHARLESTON, S.C. - After a weeklong trip up North, the Charleston RiverDogs return home to celebrate their 25th season in style with a seven-day stint at Charleston's youngest historic site, Riley Park. The Dogs will harken back to their history, both celebrating Alex Rodriguez's rehab stint in the Lowcountry with a commemorative bobblehead giveaway and throwing it back to the pre-RiverDogs era on Rainbows Pride Night, while also forging some new memories of their own as they try to set another world record as part of the weeklong homestand starting Tuesday.
The RiverDogs will first welcome the Lakewood BlueClaws for a three-game series before entertaining the Hagerstown Suns for a four-game wraparound set in their longest homestand remaining down the stretch of the season:
Tuesday, August 7, 7:05 p.m: Live & Local Tuesday: The RiverDogs celebrate local music, food, and more on another Live & Local Tuesday at The Joe presented by 105.5 The Bridge. The City of Charleston's first Poet Laureate, Marcus Amaker, will guest emcee the evening providing a taste of the Lowcountry, featuring a farmer's market on the concourse, a specialty menu from pop-up chef Vince Carino from Tamashii, and live music on the concourse by Chris Roberts.
Wednesday, August 8, 7:05 p.m: Alex Rodriguez Bobblehead Giveaway/Way Back Wednesday: The RiverDogs celebrate the three-time MVP's rehab stint in the Lowcountry in 2013 with an Alex Rodriguez RiverDog bobblehead giveaway, distributed to the first 1,000 fans in attendance. It's all part of a "Way Back Wednesday" presented by Kirkman Broadcasting as the Dogs celebrate their 25th season with teal and purple throwback unis and $4 general admission tickets courtesy of Harris Teeter. It's also Firefighter Night at The Joe presented by Service Master.
Thursday, August 9, 7:05 p.m.: Thirsty Thursday: Celebrate the summer on one of two Budweiser Thirsty Thursdays left at The Joe presented by 95SX. The RiverDogs will serve up dollar beers in the Budweiser Ashley View Pub, featuring the musical stylings of DJ Natty Heavy. Be sure to follow DJ Natty, Southern Eagle, and 95SX on social media for chances to win wristbands that give you access to Club Budweiser -- the VIP experience where you don't wait in line for beer.
Friday, August 10, 7:05 p.m.: Friday Fireworks to the Music of Motown: Stick around after the RiverDogs series opener against the Suns for a postgame Home Telecom Friday Fireworks extravaganza featuring the music of Motown presented by WEZL and Live 5 News. It's also a Red Shirt Friday at The Joe; fans that wear red to match the Dogs on the field can save a buck at the gate with the option to donate that dollar to the Palmetto Military Support Group.
Saturday, August 11, 6:05 p.m.: Boeing Military Appreciation Night featuring the World's Largest Paper Airplane Toss: Help the dogs celebrate the nation's armed forces as the Riley Park faithful try to set a world record for the largest paper airplane toss following the game presented by Boeing. Sunday, August 12, 5:05 p.m.: Holy City Sunday/Jewish Heritage Night: Head to Riley Park for another MUSC Health Family Sunday presented by CCPRC, Y102.5 and Lowcountry CW as the Dogs don the Holy City pinstripes alternate uniforms and caps. Every Sunday, fans park for free and kids eat free, run the bases postgame, and play pregame catch on the field. Members of the MUSC Children's Helath Club (12 and under) also get in free as the home team celebrates Jewish heritage in the Holy City. Sunday is also Autism Awareness Day; the Charleston club will partner with the Children's Fine and Performing Arts Foundation while welcoming in PBS to interact with kids at the game and introduce a brand-new children's character during the night.
Monday, August 13, 7:05 p.m.: Rainbows Pride Night/Monday Dog Day: Charleston closes out the homestand retro-style on Rainbows Pride Night with MUSC Health and Charleston Pride as they wrap up the series with Hagerstown. The Dogs will transform into the Charleston Rainbows for the night, complete with 1980's throwback uniforms harkening back to the days of Roberto Alomar and College Park, while celebrating diversity and inclusion in conjunction with MUSC Health and Charleston Pride. The game-worn Rainbows uniforms will be auctioned off during the game with the proceeds benefitting Charleston Pride. It's also a Monday Dog Day presented by 98Rock.
