(JACKSONVILLE, FL) -- The Charlotte Knights scored seven runs over the first three innings and held on for an impressive 9-5 win over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp in the opening game of a six-game series from 121 Financial Ballpark in Jacksonville, FL on Tuesday night. The win was Charlotte’s third straight.

It was a solid offensive showing for the Knights in game one of the series. After the Jumbo Shrimp scored first with a run in the bottom of the first inning, the Knights battled back to score seven runs over the next two innings of the game.

In the top of the second inning, left fielder Víctor Reyes connected on an RBI double for his team-leading 40th RBI of the season. The runs kept coming in the inning thanks to a two-run double off the bat of third baseman Yolbert Sánchez. The team added a fourth run in the inning when Sánchez scored on a double play hit by shortstop Erik González.

One inning later, the Knights tacked on three more runs. Sánchez started the scoring with an RBI single. It was his third RBI of the game. The Knights added two more runs in the inning on bases-loaded walks. González and center fielder Zach Remillard drew the walks to score runs. The Knights added a run in the top of the fifth inning when Stephen Piscotty scored on a fielding by Jumbo Shrimp third baseman Jordan Groshans.

Remillard also contributed to Charlotte’s win with a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning, his fourth of the season. In all, Remillard had a two-RBI day for the Knights, who beat the Jumbo Shrimp for the fourth consecutive time this season. After dropping the first three games of a six-game series at Truist Field, the Knights went on to win the final three games of that season against the Jumbo Shrimp.

RHP Luke Farrell started the game for Charlotte but did not factor in the decision. He allowed four runs on three hits over 2.2 innings pitched. LHP Tanner Banks (2-0, 3.06) earned the win after he tossed two shutout innings in relief of Farrell. RHP Nick Padilla recorded the final three outs of the game for Charlotte.

The Knights will continue the six-game series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins) on Wednesday afternoon. The "Voice of the Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call for all of the action on www.CharlotteKnights.com. First pitch on Wednesday is set for 12:05 p.m. from Jacksonville, FL.
