Covey (3-1, 2.76) gave up just one run on four hits en route to his third win of the season with the Knights. The 26-year-old right-hander turned in his highest strikeout total in a game this season with nine. In total, Covey tossed 80 pitches (56 for strikes) on the day. Relievers Xavier Cedeño (1.1 IP) and Jeanmar Goméz (1.1 IP) combined to keep the Stripers scoreless the rest of the way. Goméz earned his second save of the season.
While Covey was sharp in his sixth start of the season with the Knights, Charlotte's offense jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a sacrifice-fly RBI from first baseman
Gwinnett scored their only run of the game in the fifth inning against Covey.
