The Charlotte Knights have announced four roster moves ahead of tonight’s opening game of a six-game series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs from Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, PA. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. tonight.

RHP Davis Martin was added by the Chicago White Sox to serve as the team’s 27th player for today’s doubleheader. Martin will start game two of today’s doubleheader against the Kansas City Royals from Kansas City. With the White Sox this season, Martin is 1-3 with a 4.75 ERA in seven games (three starts) over 30.1 innings pitched (23 strikeouts). This is his seventh promotion to the White Sox this season. Martin, 25, is 3-3 with a 4.91 ERA over 40.1 innings pitched (51 strikeouts) with the Charlotte Knights this season over nine starts. He began the 2022 season with Double-A Birmingham and went 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA in five starts with the Barons (24.0 IP).

INF Romy Gonzalez was activated off the Charlotte Knights Injured List today. Gonzalez, 25, has appeared in 27 games this season with the Knights and is hitting .219 (21-for-96) with 12 runs scored, four doubles, three home runs, nine RBIs and five stolen bases. Gonzalez entered the season ranked by Baseball America as the 15th prospect in the Chicago White Sox system. Last season, he appeared over three levels in the organization (Birmingham, Charlotte and Chicago). He combined to hit .283 (101-for-357) with 24 home runs and 61 RBIs between Double-A Birmingham and Charlotte (93 games). He also appeared in 10 games with the White Sox last season and hit .250 (8-for-32).

LHP Tanner Banks was optioned to Charlotte from the Chicago White Sox on August 7 and was added to Charlotte’s active roster today. In one start this season with the Knights, Banks is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA (2.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 SO). In 29 appearances with the White Sox this season, Banks, 30, posted a 1-0 record with a 3.16 ERA (42.2 IP). He made his major-league debut on April 10, 2022 with the White Sox. He spent the entire 2021 season with the Charlotte Knights and posted a 3-3 record with a 4.53 ERA in 25 games (five starts) over 59.2 innings pitched.

RHP Lincoln Henzman was promoted back to the Charlotte Knights today from Double-A Birmingham. In 27 games with the Knights this season, Henzman is 2-3 with one save and a 5.40 ERA in 27 games (four starts) over 33.1 innings pitched. In nine games this season with the Double-A Birmingham Barons, Henzman posted a 0-0 record with two saves and a 3.21 ERA in nine games over 14.0 innings pitched.

So far this season, a total of 13 different players have been promoted to Chicago from Charlotte.
