(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- OF Eloy Jiménez, who is ranked as the top prospect in the Chicago White Sox system by Baseball America and MLB.com, has been promoted to the Charlotte Knights today from Double-A Birmingham. Along with Jiménez, catcher Seby Zavala and RHP Ian Hamilton -- both ranked as Top 30 Prospects in the system -- have also been promoted to the Knights today from Birmingham. All three players recently represented the Barons at the 2018 Southern League All-Star Game, which was in Birmingham, AL.

Jiménez, 21, compiled a .317 (65-for-205) batting average with 36 runs scored, 15 doubles, two triples, 10 home runs, and 42 RBIs over 53 with the Barons this season. He was acquired by the White Sox from the Chicago Cubs on July 13, 2017 as part of the trade that sent LHP José Quintana to the Cubs. Originally signed as a free agent by the Cubs on August 1, 2013, he entered the 2018 season ranked by MLB.com as the number four overall prospect in baseball.

Zavala, 24, has appeared in 56 games with the Double-A Barons this season and has compiled a .271 (54-for-199) batting average with 32 runs scored, seven doubles, 11 home runs, and 31 RBIs. He was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 12th round of the June 2015 First-Year Player Draft. The Fort Hood, TX native entered the 2018 season ranked by Baseball America as the 29th best prospect in the organization after combining to hit 21 home runs last season between Kannapolis (Low-A) and Winston-Salem (High-A).

Hamilton, 23, has appeared in 21 games this season with the Barons and has compiled a 2-1 record with a 1.78 ERA (25.1 IP/34 SO).
