The Charlotte Knights announced two roster moves ahead of the opening game of a six-game series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on Tuesday, July 6.

C Seby Zavala was recalled by the Chicago White Sox. Zavala, 27, hit .178 (21-for-118) with 15 runs scored, four doubles, five home runs and 15 RBIs in 33 games this season with the Knights. He hit 20 home runs with the Knights in 2019. Baseball America tabbed him as the Best Defensive Catcher in the organization in each of the past two years (2020 and 2021).

For the season, the Knights have now promoted 11 players to the Chicago White Sox. Those players in order are: INF Danny Mendick (May 4), RHP Alex McRae (May 14), RHP Ryan Burr (May 27), RHP Zack Burdi (May 29 & June 17 ), RHP Jimmy Lambert (May 31 & June 27), 1B/OF Gavin Sheets (June 3 & June 29), OF Brian Goodwin (June 10), OF Luis González (June 22), LHP Jace Fry (June 30), INF Jake Burger (July 2) and C Seby Zavala (July 6).

Additionally, C/INF Joe DeCarlo was assigned to Double-A Birmingham. He appeared in 16 games with the Knights this season and hit .182 (8-for-44) with six runs scored and an RBI. He was signed by the Chicago White Sox as a free agent on January 5, 2021.
