USA Baseball and the Durham Bulls are set to host the All-American Women’s Baseball Classic from August 1-3 at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park (DBAP) in Durham, North Carolina, in conjunction with the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) and American Girls Baseball (AGB).
The Classic will be an identification event for future Women’s National Team programming while paying tribute to the AAGPBL. Players will be split into four teams and represent the four original AAGPBL teams of 1943: the South Bend Blue Sox, Racine Belles, Kenosha Comets, and Rockford Peaches. The event format will follow a round-robin format with each team competing in a total of three games apiece across the three days, and a champion will be crowned based on a point system.
Athletes will also have the option to join an optional morning workout on August 2 that will be led by USA Baseball and select coaching staff as an extra opportunity to be evaluated for future selection to Women’s National Team programming.
The event will include multiple off-field opportunities to celebrate the achievements of women in baseball. A reception will be held on July 31 for all participants that will include a panel discussion and a showing of ‘A League of Their Own’. Additionally, a PLAY BALL clinic will be held on August 1 at the DBAP, and athletes will serve as clinicians. PLAY BALL is a free introductory clinic for kids ranging from four to 12 years old.
