One of the most iconic sights in minor league baseball, if not all of baseball is the Durham Bulls' iconic Hit Bull Win Steak sign that is perched above the Blue Monster wall in left field at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

Inspired by the sign's first appearance in the classic film Bull Durham, the sign has invited hitters to try their luck. Since beginning play at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in 1995, the sign has been hit 39 times by 35 different Durham Bulls players, most recently by infielder Osleivis Basabe on July 23, 2024. Four Bulls players have the sign on multiple occasions, including Justin Christian, Shelley Duncan, Midre Cummings, and Aaron Holbert. When the ballpark first opened on April 5, 1995, the sign was originally in right field before being moved to its current spot above the Blue Monster prior to the 1998 season.

Whenever a Bulls player hits the sign during a game, that player and one lucky fan each win a $100 gift certificate to The Angus Barn. If that home run happens to be a grand slam, that player and fan each win a $200 gift certificate. If a visiting player hits the sign during a game, that player does not receive anything. Willy Adames (April 22, 2018) is the last Bulls player to hit a grand slam off of the sign.
